UPDATE

This is an update to my last post. I received an email from our management company and here's what I got:

Hi Dave,

I hope that you had a great 4th!

There are two options:

1. You can choose to pay rent until we can re-rent your apartment

2. The lease break settlement offer is 2 1/2 months of rent up front, and you can break it anytime.

So Basically, it's going to cost us an enormous amount of money to break our lease so the tentative conclusion is that we are not moving.
